As a huge lover of skincare, I’ve tried it all. From the 10 step routines of Japan to the cult products and budget buy favourites. It’s taken me a while to get the right combination for my skin, but I think I’m getting there. So here is my simple skincare routine and some of my favourite products.
Simple Skincare Routine
I am a complete convert to the double cleanse, as Caroline Hirons says, it’s the only way to get rid of make-up and SPF. I double cleanse on the days I wear make-up or SPF but on other days use just a light face wash.
I use a toner some days and not others, I go on the way my skin looks. If its dull and a bit flat I use glycolic acid and if it feels fine, I don’t bother.
Eye cream is always a must. I like one with a retinol at night and a lighter one in the day.
I have been using hyaluronic acid in the winter as its super hydrating. I follow this with an oil or serum and if I feel I need it a night cream or sleeping mask.
If my face is looking dull or I have blemishes I use retinol topically. I also use it once a week for general tone control.
Favourite Skincare Products
This was a present for my last birthday and I love it. It has the consistency of coconut oil and melts on the face to a rich oil. It also goes far; I’ve had it since September and its only just half used. I would definitely buy this again.

I found this in whilst in Kuala Lumpur as it was so easy to get hold of there. I loved it. Made with olive oil, it felt natural and rich. This will always be one of my favourites.

I love any of the Rosa Centifolia range. They smell amazing and feel great on my skin. I have used this cleanser for over two years now and I can’t see myself using anything else.
The cult classic and for good reason. I know some people find this too harsh on their skin but on mine it actually makes it glow. I also love the smell!

The ordinary also do a version I love Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
This feels like an emollient, the texture is like Vaseline. The first time I used it I smothered all over my face only to wake up in the middle of the night as my face was stinging. So, this is strong but works so well. My favourite use is on blemishes. It takes them down overnight, it’s amazing. Don’t use around the eyes, on the neck, on in the nose crease, everywhere else is fine. Also, make sure your skin is completely dry before applying.

This is my staple every week retinol. Thin consistency, easy to apply and no stinging, even if it accidentally add it to the more sensitive areas of my face.

The best nighttime eye cream I’ve ever tried. Thick without pilling and feels like it hydrates. I have nearly finished this and will be buying more.
I have been using this a while and love it. I use it in the day and sometimes at night when I want a lighter cream. It’s a great allrounder, I’m already on my second pot.

This is wonderful. I love the smell of rose, but if you don’t this won’t be for you. It feels rich and indulgent and my skin looks amazing with just this on. I don’t know how it does it but it makes my skin look incredible.

I use and love the day cream version of this cream. This is a new launch that I will be buying as soon as I have finished some other bits, but if you’ve tried it let me know. I hope it’s as good as the day cream.

This was a rather indulgent Christmas present that came in a set. It’s so thick and rich and it smells incredible. I actually think it works too, my skin looks fantastic the morning after I’ve used it. Unfortunately, I absolutely love it, I’m just going to hope I can get it as part of another set when it runs out! I have found a link where it is heavily discounted.

I have added the Rituals Nameste Hydrating Gel to my daytime routine as the last step and am really loving it. I’ve only been using it for a week so far but will report back in a future post.
