July Favourites

July Favourites

July was/is a busy month. I am back in the UK, catching up with friends and family, meaning I will be neglecting the blog a little – sorry. I have been loving a lot of things though, so thought I’d pop over and share some of my July favourites.

July Favourites  – Beauty

So I have been banging on about this forever, but the DCH cleansing oil is amazing. I love the way it feels to rub it into my skin. I have started using it with muslin cloths and it works an absolute treat. But whilst back, I ordered some Face Shop Rice Water oil cleanser as I ran out of my firm favourite. And I can say it is also amazing. More of a dry oil, but equally good at removing makeup.

I have been using the Rice Water Foam Cleanser for a while and think it is also amazing. So getting the complimentary oil seemed like a good choice – it was! Amazon do a set here

Hado Labo is amazing for leaving my skin feeling hydrated whilst living in air con, I totally love it. I naively thought I wouldn’t need it in the UK so didn’t pack it for the trip. I was wrong. Luckily I had a sample of a new Vichy Mineral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Serum Booster. This reminded me of the amazing Hado Labo and had extra ingredients in it – bonus. Takes a little time to dry but does sink into the skin and made my face look brighter and fresh. It went especially well under my beloved IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream – I will discuss this more next month!

I love my Rose Quartz facial Roller! I’ve wanted one for a long time, even searching for them in Japan with no success (apparently they are big there!) and finally got one last month. I have been using it for around 6 weeks now and can see a difference in my face. It is far less puffy and looks more streamlined. Put it in the fridge for an extra cooling sensation. Great when it’s hot.

July Favourites  – Books

Everything is Lies – This was amazing. Tense, intriguing, a real page turner. I could not put it down.

The Back-Up Plan Honest, funny and raw, it’s a fabulous book. A must read. It’s not only for people experiencing relationship breakdowns, everyone can relate. I particularly liked the message. That being in love is wonderful, but that you can find love everywhere, not just in a partner. The discussion of female friendship, it’s difficulties and successes is refreshing and I love that it has a kick ass feminist feel! I read it in record time, unable to put it down.

The Multi-Hyphen Method  This was a total revolution for me. I ‘m someone who can never settle in a job, vocation or career, often getting bored or in need of a new challenge within 6 months. This book taught me I was actually a multi-hyphen, someone who enjoys doing multiple things and someone who shouldn’t have a standard career. But instead earn my living through multiple work streams. It gave me the boost I needed to realise that getting a job isn’t the only solution. Watch this space.

July Favourites – Film & TV

Isle of Dogs I love Wes Anderson, his animation style is unique, Fantastic Mr Fox is one of my favourite films. This did not disappoint. A great film that echos so many of the problems of today, shown through an alternative view. Love it.

Queer Eye – ok I am super late to the party on this one. I didn’t see the first series back in the noughties, like so many, so totally missed this come back. Anyway I finally got round to it and love it, I’m watching it now, actually.

July Favourites – Music

Oh Jon Hopkins, I walked down the aisle to Abandon Window, so naturally love everything of his. This month see’s our 3 year anniversary so it would only be right to have him on the playlist!

And the Carters, need I say anymore.

So there you have it my July favourites I already have some corkers for August. What have you loved this month? Share in your comments below.
